Withering: definition and meaning



Withering is a phenomenon caused by a water imbalance in the plant, where the amount of water transpired is not counterbalanced by the water absorbed, resulting in a loss of firmness in the cells. You can have a temporary withering that if it is not compensated by the intake of water, it becomes permanent withering leading to the death of the plant.
